This is a set of five articles on the 'pros and cons' of living in the Now moment. In particular, they address the writer's discovery through personal experience that, in order to be fully present in the here and now, one must include the feeling nature. Being here, now is not a convenient escape from uncomfortable emotions or a method for the ego to reinforce a dominant position through limited self-awareness which does not embrace the whole. Our emotions represent the very foundation of our consciousness. Similarly, our existence ought to be rooted in acceptance if we are to deepen our self-awareness to the higher self, which is our true, eternal Being.
These articles are titled 'Now, now!' - a pun on the slightly patronising or light-hearted reminder or to stop complaining, getting upset or misbehaving and to pull onself together or be more responsible - because, originally, they served as interval sections in The Monstaville Memoirs to balance the somewhat 'heavy' nature of the general subject matter. As with the books, they also double as collections of quotes on this subject.

"The mind is like a child, its understanding is so limited. It constantly lives in fear and it feels secure by possessing, by labeling, by creating boxes for everything. It is always analysing the past or the future. Bringing the understanding that we are not the mind but can always watch the activities of the mind, brings us to the greater understanding of the Present moment.
I have noticed that being in the Present moment brings the experience of being the witness of life, being in oneness with life, being in the place of immense trust in existence that the need to possess or judge does not arise." ~ Premlatha Rajkumar.

“In your reality time is a product of mass. You live in quite a dense reality, so time is a bit slow moving, a little bit fixed in the way it behaves. As you reclaim more of your own light and accept the gifts of light that are offered to you, so you become lighter in spirit. You feel to yourselves that you are lighter or have less mass, and your relationship with time becomes freer…Now, not 2012, is the point of power. If you wish to experience this freer relationship with time, simply be present. As so many of your spiritual teachers have said, now is the only time that really matters. You can safely let 2012 look after itself!” - Sananda (channelled by Christopher Sell, ‘2012 - An Overview,’ 15 July 2010, www.heaven-on-earth.co.uk).
Be here, now. Be where you are and who you are. Be here and be in the now or be in the now and find yourself here. The result is the same. Stop chasing and trying to find yourself in the world of illusion. Being is here. Experience is there. The experiences point to Being only in that they are what we are not, as the Moon reflects the Sun’s light. They lead indirectly, not directly, to Being, then. We experience (fourth dimension) in order to know who and what we are in contrast to that which we are not. And, when we look in the direction of true Being, we see and feel ‘Light and love.’ When we look in the direction of the screen of the outside world and the experiences it offers, we see and feel darkness, pain, suffering and limitation because it does not lead to Being, to Reality, and can therefore never fulfil us. Turn within. To be here, now is to be aware of your being on all levels from the physical to the spiritual (at least to some degree). During childhood, our experiences and conditioning cause us to leave our bodies, leaving only a small portion of self-awareness behind (physical personality). So, we have limited awareness of ourselves, like robots, dependent on a world projected outside of ourselves. We are walking subconscious automatons as long as we are not feeling everything within us and allowing our consciousness to flow unimpeded. We are separating the conscious part of our minds from the whole so that we remain unconscious of our ‘inner’ selves. We are not fully here.
"You cannot find your soul with your mind. You must use your heart. You must know what you are feeling. If you don't know what you are feeling, you will create unconsciously." - Gary Zukav.
ANot to be aware of one’s feelings, not to understand them or know how to use or express them is worse than being blind, deaf or paralysed. Not to feel is not to be alive. More than anything else, feelings make us human. Feelings make us all kindred.@ ‑ Dr David Viscott.
“Surrender is really just acceptance: You surrender to, or accept, the way things are - the way life is showing up right now...Surrender allows you to experience life as it is unfolding, instead of experiencing your resistance to it. When you are identified with the ego, you aren’t experiencing life but, rather, your resistance to it. You’re actually missing the experience of the now because you’re not in the now but in your thoughts about the now - and that is a very different experience.” - Gina Lake (Embracing the Now: Finding Peace and Happiness in What Is, Endless Satsang Foundation, 2008).
The Dao is Pure Consciousness. It is the Goddess, beyond Creative Being (God – although it is all One, God/Goddess, in reality of course). It therefore encompasses All That Is. It also contains all of the divine realms in the multiverse from the fifth dimension upwards and also includes the holographic projections of third and fourth density, these illusions which humanity is on the brink of transcending. To know and follow the Way is to return to Oneness beyond these lower dimensions in which we experience being separate from the Infinite Universal Spirit for forget who and what we really are. It is to move upwards and into the Light, to rise above the roots of darkness, of fear and ignorance, and into the Reality above ground.
“The second key is that you can only transform fear in the NOW moment. Yesterday is gone; tomorrow you have not yet brought forth to you. Now is the choice point. Now, only Now. That seems quite self-evident but think of how much time you spend invested in your past and how much time you spend projecting into a rather negative future, hmm? And for as long as you are in your past or in your future, you are not NOW in your power place!"
- P'taah (channelled through Jani King, www.ptaah.com).
The Daodejing (Tao Te Ching) is really a guide to living in harmony with life for the purpose of preserving the spiritual potency one might accomplish - ultimately with the attainment of immortality through internal alchemy (the transformation of consciousness through increased energy and awareness to a higher state of being). In other words, unless the heart is fully open, and remains so, ‘life’ is likely to remove that power. It is for this very reason that human beings have been kept in the dark, in an ignorant state, why tyranny and manipulation have gone unfettered on our planet for so long. ‘Evil’ forces are used for the purpose of the Divine Plan. That way, we could discover truth as and when we were ready. We have free will but what we do not have, not quite yet anyway, is liberation from the spell of matter, the illusion of concrete existence. We are thus confined to earthly life. We have all been living in a cage, raised and fed by zoo keepers (‘spirit helpers’). For, to roam free requires strength and responsibility, love and honesty. It is here in this field of containment that we grow towards maturity before we are released into the universal community on the higher planes. Through ignorance, we have picked up some bad habits and, through our weaknesses, we have gotten ourselves into karmic ‘debt.’ We therefore have many important lessons to learn before we can become responsible co-creators.
"What matters is to live in the present, live now, for every moment is now. It is your thoughts and acts of the moment that create your future. The outline of your future path already exists, for you created its pattern by your past." – Sathya Sai Baba.
“Life is not about tomorrow; it is about right now. Life is about how you are currently moulding the Energy!” – Abraham (Manifest Your Desires by Esther and Jerry Hicks, Hay House, Inc., New York, 2008, p.223).
And, so, my spiritual focus and subsequent discovery of the power of intention was necessarily, although not consciously, accompanied by challenges to grow on levels that would warrant such liberty, such freedom from restraint. One must tread carefully in order to avoid harming others. As Lilla Beck (a spiritual teacher) once said, life itself is now the source of our initiatory experiences. We are no longer subject to the more ritualistic initiations of old in order to increase our consciousness. Tom Kenyon touches on this point in The Magdalen Manuscript:
“One must learn the right use of energy (righteousness), and how to conduct oneself in relation to others. There is a real danger in the attainment of powers brought about through the practice of Egyptian alchemy. As one’s consciousness becomes stronger, so does the ability to create manifestation of one’s intentions...Those persons insisting on experiencing life from the lower chakras without passing into love will eventually be devoured by their desires in the lower three realms (the quest for security, sex and power). When someone passes through the initiatory gate of the fourth seal (chakra), he or she will experience a spontaneous arising of agape (unconditional divine love). When one experiences the world from this place in consciousness, it is not possible to knowingly harm another person. Agape is all-inclusive. By nature it generates feelings of connectedness. Because the egoic-sense of self is expanded to include others, harming another person would be unthinkable. But this level of harmlessness is only present at the level of the heart. Persons coming solely from the lower three centres can easily manipulate and harm others in order to get their own selfish desires met...Those who insist on living their lives without love will be devoured by their desires.” (The Magdalen Manuscript. The Alchemies of Horus & The Sex Magic of Isis by Tom Kenyon and Judi Sion, Sounds True, Inc., Boulder, Co, US, 2002, p.133-134).
“The wise man knows that only as he learns to live moment by moment will progress be his; for it is always the present. The past is gone and cannot be changed regardless how one might like to change it. The future can never be reached, not even the coming moment. When it arrives, it is the present.” – George Adamski (Behind the Flying Saucer Mystery, 1961, p.77).
“In the Seventh level activation, the focus now moves to the heart chakra. The heart chakra is now going to open up at deeper and deeper levels. Emotional blocks at deep levels get opened and that there are no restrictions to your 'vastness'. Feelings get intensified, sadness, anger, and happiness and expression is easier.
You begin to live in the Now.
The mental body lives in the future.
The emotional body in the past.
The physical heart has a membrane, which is called ironically ‘The Gates of Eden.’ The membrane is Forgetfulness, veils of separation.” (www.crystallotus.com/LightBody/15.htm).
“If cities have souls, as they must, divine guardians and spirits, you may be sure that they are grateful to you and remember your good works...Believe me that these divinities are at your side, at all times, as advocates and allies, and that they beg the universal God to grant you a becoming recompense for imitating Him to the utmost of your powers. To do good actions is the only trait which God and men have in common. Imitation is an affinity which joins the imitation to that which is imitated. Wherefore consider that you have established an intimacy with God by a communion in the will to work righteousness.” - Synesius.
“You are all moving from the past into the present time. That is another key element to be mindful of at this time: staying in the moment of now. We know you have heard this over and over again. Now is all that exists. The moment of now is where you will find peace and harmony, groundedness and joy...Look to each other to find comfort, harmony and laughter. This will help you move through these energetic frequencies as the fifth and third dimensions bang up against each other. What happened to the fourth dimension, you may ask? Many of you are currently in the fourth dimension, where you access the moment of now. You take the moment of now further into the fifth dimension and add your Soul Self. You come into a place of timelessness.” - The Shifting Energies (channelled through Nancy Leilah Ward, 18 January 2009, www.snoedel.punt.nl/?id=428097&r=1&tbl_archief=&).
“At a global level, our frequency is increasing: we are ‘squiggling’ faster and faster. We are moving from fear to love, from doubt to trust, from limitation to potential, from problems to opportunities, from competition to co-operation, from struggle to joy, form conflict and polarity to harmony and integration.
Metaphysically, the Earth is shifting into the fourth dimension. Anything which still carries the energy of the third dimension - the energy of fear, struggle, conflict or imbalance - is now being shaken loose and thrown up to the surface. Personally and globally, whatever belongs to the Old Age now has to be healed or released.
In the meantime, our task as Light-keepers is to plant seeds for the future. As we move towards the twenty-first century, the past is having less and less impact; the future is what really matters. Our visions, our hopes, our desires - as well as our fears - now have a much more immediate role in creating our reality. Our visions of the future will create that future. It is our responsibility to see beyond ‘problems’ to solutions, to hold a vision of a future in which our personal and global challenges have been resolved. We do not need to know how, but we do need to hold that vision of hope and faith. We need to live right now in the fourth dimension - beyond fear, beyond doubt...
At any moment, each of us has a choice about where to place our consciousness. Like a radio, we can tune it into any station we choose. We can listen to the voice of fear or the voice of love. We can grow through struggle and trauma, or through love and joy. We can walk in the shadow of doubt and unworthiness, or we can choose faith and trust. We can choose mundaneness and mediocrity, or we can dance our Dreams awake.
What is your choice?”- Gill Edwards (Stepping into the Magic. A New Approach to Everyday Life, Piatkus Books, London, 1993, p.211-212).
P'taah: The most powerful statement, beloved, is ‘I am, in every NOW, no matter how it seems, a Perfect, Eternal Expression of Source and I give forth the thanks to this greater part of who I am, for the love that I am, for the love in my life, for the love that surrounds me, ......etc.’
Q: That is powerful.
P'taah: There is nothing more than that because you are affirming and re-affirming your knowingness that you are not separate. Is it not wondrous? Are you not wondrous, beloved?
Q: Yes, I am.
P'taah: Yes, you are.
Q: Thank you, P'taah.
P'taah: And in your sovereignty and in your power, you always have the choice for love and it is simple. And when something occurs to bring up the fear, stop, breathe, and travel with the breath into the fear, to enwrap the fear, to swirl that fear into that Goddess light of your very being. And thusly you know enrapture!
Q: I love that, enrapture.
P'taah: Is that not a good one
Q: Really good one. That was a fun one.
Q: If you see a blazing light coming from this planet, P'taah, you'll know that the people reading this all tried it once.
P'taah: Ah, indeed, what bliss that would be!
- P'taah's Message for April 2010 (channelled through Jani King, www.ptaah.com).
Linear 'time' is the illusory tip of the multidimensional iceberg, apparently with all timelines existing at once, which is why it's so imperative to always be in the Now, if possible, because that is the eternal reality at the heart of all experience. Being ready to be in the Now means being ready to surrender to what Is and not identify with the mind’s attachments to past and future which are merely the illusory projections of repressed emotions, shadows cast by self-made obstacles to the Light of the Spirit shining in the heart.
"No matter how thorough our observation of the present, the (unobserved) past, like the future, is indefinite and exists only as a spectrum of possibilities." - Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow (The Grand Design, 2010).
“The nonphysical levels of your being do not have this limitation. Through direct cognition of the energy of events, I can tap into any point in what you think of as your planet’s history or future with equal ease. I suggest that you try to visualise what this feels like. Imagine that you are a higher frequency aspect of your own consciousness and are looking down at several people, each in a different period of history. By simple intent, you can merge with any one of them or all of them at once, become them, and know every facet of what they’re thinking and feeling, because you are them. You are, say, an Atlantean crystal specialist, a Roman soldier, a medieval peasant and, of course, the self you know today. Try it. Get a sense of how each of them perceives time, how you perceive time and how you interact.” – Serapis (channelled through Tony Stubbs, An Ascension Handbook, The Book Guild, Brighton, p.22).
“Now, the earth plane, your planet as you know it, is a specific focal vector for consciousness. At your level you think your planet is divided into areas of land and water, continents and oceans. The awareness faculties of humankind, indeed your consciousness, are tuned into frequencies of perception that give you that impression. But from a Metatronic perspective, your planet is also faceted into frameworks of time and probability areas, termed parallels. So all time, all parallels co exist in greater reality. As such all of your epochs, all of your time eras, all of your many civilisations co-exist at once. Indeed, from this extraordinary panorama, time is simultaneous, so all eras of earth history are embedded in time and clearly exist in the eternal NOW along with your current time vector. Within the golden mean, within what you term portals there are certain bleed-throughs, certain apertures that allow for movement. The Om Crystal is capable of tapping into these and harnessing their utility.
In the truest sense, your now, your present moment is a psychological platform. This is true whether you can grasp the concept or not, and we realise it is an enormous leap of understanding. Accept it as an axiom, and indeed so doing will assist you in managing the understanding of your true multidimensional nature.” - Archangel Metatron (channelled through James Tyberonn, ‘The Solstice of Om. The OM Crystal of Shasta and Gateway of OM,’ June 2010, www.earth-keeper.com).
“Of course, all now-points are accessible to Spirit.
This NOW-point is where you are and where your power to deal with all planes lies. The previous now-point is gone and your ego-self can’t go back and change anything. And the next now-point hasn’t happened yet, so your ego-self can’t do anything about that yet. You could imagine time as a narrow bridge across a chasm. Everything spreads out on either side, but focuses to a narrow point in the NOW. Your consciousness is the bridge between the past and the future. Everything must funnel through this narrow channel called NOW. The future flows through NOW to become the past. As it passes, you can change it, redefine it, amplify it or deny it passage into the past as your personal history.
‘Imagine a situation that you want to change. See it coming toward you as you stand on the centre of the bridge, requesting permission to cross over into your present. Tell it that it can only pass if it changes. Reconstruct it – be it a person, conversation, event, etc. – and then let it pass. You are actually changing the energy of that situation in the NOW-point.’
This technique actually changes the blueprint for reality, making you a reality architect! Spirit operates all along the timeline in every now-point. Time is just another dimension and you can move in time as easily as you move in space. But just as the particular space which you occupy acts as a focal point, the NOW-point in which your ego-self exists is also a focal point to your spirit-selves. It is the point of unity where you can exercise your full personal power.” – Serapis (channelled through Tony Stubbs, An Ascension Handbook, The Book Guild, Brighton, p.100-101).
“So, in simultaneous time, we dispel the idea that what’s happened has happened and can’t be changed, and that the future hasn’t happened yet, so can’t be changed yet. You can change it, even if you don’t know what you’re doing, by remaining firmly anchored in the present and using resonance to work on either side of the NOW-point. Your unified field works in ways you don’t consciously know. In summary, then, there are many techniques that the blend of ego and Spirit can use to align and merge.” – Serapis (channelled through Tony Stubbs, An Ascension Handbook, The Book Guild, Brighton, p.103. Serapis provides some valuable visualisation techniques in this regard).
”The expression of love is every moment. And, in every moment, you have more than enough energy to express love. Gather up the entire future of the unknown - you will create a giant monkey on your back. Delving into your past with no intent except self-gratification or self-punishment – one or the other – create another monkey on your back. Be here. And, if you choose to look into your future, might as well see a bright one. It is your choice.” – St Germain (channelled through Ashamarae McNamara. Excerpt from ‘St Germain: Change Your Life,’ YouTube video posted by messagesfromwithin, 23 September 2008, www.awakeningfromwithin.com).
“The unseens also remind us that a solid way to release ourselves from the compression of linear time is to keep ourselves anchored in the present thru mindful activity. Activities that keep us focused in our bodies will serve us well this year and prove to be more effective than in times past. This is because our physical bodies are housing the new frequencies more than ever and therefore the new timeline exists within us, not around us. To access this state of eternalness, we can consciously make the switch from the external to the internal through body-focused tasks or activities.” - Lauren C. Gorgo (‘The New Wave of Love, 22 March 2011, www.consciousco-creationalcoaching.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-wave-of-love.html).
